The whole title follows a rather familiar style that anyone who’s played a few Pragmatic Play titles will be able to pick up on. A mixture of regular, boring symbols and fantastical magical ones fill the playing field, the sorceresses are divine beauties who seem to have misplaced their proper clothing somewhere, and the title is built around scoring jackpots and special features while being somewhat boring to play in terms of wins outside of bonuses.
So what bonuses does Wild Spells offer you, enterprising gambler? There’s of course, the regular Wild which can replace anything but the Scatter, which is very useful in this slot in particular. And Scatters are triggered in the same manner as always, by getting three of them on the playing field at the same time. Once the bonus is active, you can choose to make one or more of the sorceresses into Wilds on every reel but the first. If you make just one a Wild, you get twenty free spins, for two you get ten, and for all three you only win five. However, if any more Scatters appear on the first, third or fifth reel while the free spins are going, you can get additional turns, so plan accordingly!
How to Play Wild Spells
While it looks nice, it didn’t quite make as big of an impression on us as some other games Pragmatic Play put forward recently. Maybe it’s the fact there’s a lot of fantasy titles out there, but we can’t really put anything forward that really stood out to make Wild Spells unique. The three mages are certainly visually striking, but follow a similar colour pattern that we’ve seen in over a thousand places now, which was a bit of a downer.
On the gameplay front, it plays similarly to Caishen’s Gold, in that all the fun scores are either the fixed jackpots or free spins. However, unlike Caishen’s Gold, Wild Spells reverses things, and makes free spins a bit easier to come by, while making the jackpots that much more difficult to reach. Either way, our wallet didn’t seem to get much of a difference in the end, despite the shift, which was a bit disappointing, but not surprising.
Jackpots & Progressives
No progressive jackpots anywhere in sight in this slot, which just confirms the fact Pragmatic Play wants players to be focusing on the jackpots they can win or trying to bait a lucky free spins. Out of the two, the extra turns seem like a more reasonable option for us. It may not be as rewarding as the jackpots, but it’s far easier to trigger.
That said, we did have some nice wins during normal gameplay as well which we feel is worth a mention. Mind you, it’s not that much, around 15x our wager, but the game decided to make a big deal out of it and call it a nice win, and it happened a few times. There’s some potential there.
Bonus Games & Sign-ups
To activate one of those three jackpots, you have to perform a complex arcane ritual. And while that’s obviously not true, you’d have an easier time with the ritual, we think. You have to get at least three full stacks of any of the three sorceresses on adjacent reels, and you have to do it from right to left, to even get the minimal jackpot that’s 50x your wager. To get the grand jackpot, you need to accomplish a five of a kind sorceress win in reverse, which is highly unlikely. This is where Wilds help, but still, if anyone manages to pull it off, we’ll be amazed.
