The Lab Mobile Slot Review

The Lab is a 5-reel 3-row video slot that, although keeping the standard reel structure, surpasses the majority of other games by introducing innovative features. The game was released in 2014 by ELK-Studio, a complete outsider at the time, and has gained numerous fans in the meantime.

Just like all other games by this provider, The Lab is completely oriented to mobile players providing excellent full screen mode and a user-friendly platform adapted for smartphones and tablets. Moreover, this game is a part of the video slot history, since it is the very first game that features the Betting Strategies, one of the things that helped a relatively unknown Swedish provider cross the walls of anonymity.

If we tell you that The Lab is played at 15 paylines and features wild, multiplying scatter and re-spins on free spins, you might get useful information, but you still won’t be able to figure out how dynamic and exciting this game really is. For that, you will need to spin the reels by yourself.

How to Play The Lab

ELK-Studios is a company known for creating games intended primarily for mobile users and, although available at desktops and laptops, The Lab is mainly a mobile video slot. The game is played in landscape mode with a large Spin button positioned at the bottom right corner of the screen. If you want to launch auto spins just hold the Spin for while and choose one of four auto spin values from a pop-up menu (10, 25, 50 or 100).

Your total bet is presented right next to the Spin button and if you touch it the bet settings will show up all over the screen. You can choose one of fifteen total bet values ranging from 0.15 to 90. Note that the number of paylines is fixed at 15, so the total bet represents the number of coins (15) multiplied by the coin value (0.01 – 6). While you’re on the settings page, you may want to check how the legendary Betting Strategies work.

Tap on the arrow button and opt for one of the following strategies: Jumper, Leveller or Booster. Each of the strategies will adapt your bets according to the previously arranged scenario. For instance, Jumper raises bet on win by one level and resets on loss, while raises bet 2 levels after 5 consecutive losses.

Various crystals and chemical formulas represent different symbols, none of which possessing any special feature. The game logo has two main roles – it may activate the free spins and serves as the wild symbol during the free spins. “X-scatter” symbol is there to multiply the winnings during the free spins.

Jackpots & Progressives

It takes at least three identical symbols on an active payline starting from the leftmost to create a winning combo. The jackpot stands at solid 46,000 coins and the theoretical payout for The Lab is pretty nice too – 96.30%. Note that the free spin session may last longer than you have anticipated due to additional free spins won during the feature.

Bonus Games and Sign-Ups

The free spins are won whenever the game logo shows up on the reel 2 row 2. Reels 1, 2 and 3 are frozen and moved to the right, so they become reel 3, 4 and 5 respectively. In the meantime two additional reels will show up on the left. This is called the Sliding Reels feature. Initially, you will get 10 free spins with doubled wins, but there is a fair chance you will have much more since additional +1 or +2 free spins are awarded every 3 to 4 free spins. The game logo serves as the wild symbol. When there are no more free spins, the reels will slide again, this time to the left. You will have one more chance to increase your free spins winnings – for every “X-scatter” symbol that occurs your free spin win will be multiplied by x2.
