Panther Pays is a game with a very obvious focus on panthers. It is played on a 5×4 board with 50 fixed paylines. To win, collect three or more identical symbols in adjacent positions, starting with the leftmost reel. All wins must follow one of the currently active paylines, or else the cash prize won’t be awarded to the player.
In this Playtech release, you have access to just one special feature. And that’s the free spins round! At first glance, it works just as you’d expect it to. Collect enough Scatters, and win a few turns where you don’t have to pay. But with each free spin, one Wild is added to each reelstrip on the reels 2, 3, 4 and 5. Increasing the odds of finding Wilds and a big win!
How to play Panther Pays
We were quite surprised when we first booted up this slot. It’s neither good nor bad visually; quite average, in fact. What took us off guard were all the physical machine sounds Panther Pays makes! It didn’t really strike us as an attempt at courting classic release gamblers. Despite the misplaced sound effects, it looks passable. The background gives it plenty of leeway.
Not that said leeway lasts for long due to icon designs. It’s a mixture of playing card royals and various jungle animals.Our biggest concern was the parrot. We don’t consider ourselves expert on art, but those eyes are just creepy. If Playtech hopes to appeal to a lot of players, they might want to adjust their parrot symbol.
This release has a low volatility and only one special feature. But even with that bonus being amazing at creating winning opportunities, it’s somewhat wasted on this slot. Because Panther Pays lacks a sizeable maximum win to make good use of them. If it had a better jackpot and a stronger variance, we’d probably rank it a lot higher than we currently did.
