Oriental culture has always been a big draw for developers in recent years in an effort to expand into a relatively untapped market. Most of the focus has gone into slots that borrow themes of old Chinese legends, their stories and their lucky symbols. However, with the growing popularity of anime in the west, it was only a manner of time before someone jumped on the opportunity, and it seems Betsoft is ready to tackle this 5-reel, 243-payline game. Forgoing traditional Scatters, the developers use dual reels and Wilds to create a fun and dynamic environment.
That said, this particular release doesn’t stray too far from what’s safe in terms of symbols. Gambling icons such as 10, J, Q, K and A are spread across the reels, sharing the playing field with lanterns, lotus flowers, purses full of coins, golden statues of fish and cats and the mischievous twins themselves.
Rather than offering Scatters, the slot plays up its Dual Reels special feature. At least two reels will always be the same, and there is a chance that the reel duplication can spread to the third, fourth and even fifth reel if you are lucky enough to make it happen. For making wins happen on a 5×3 playing field, this is amazing, more than making up for a lack of free spins in Fa Fa Twins.
In that sense, Wilds are also very helpful for completing winning combinations, but not much else. They do not have any bonuses or cash prizes attached to them. They can only occur on the second, third, fourth and fifth reel, but can substitute for any icon on the grid.
It is also worth mentioning that Betsoft included a double up coin toss that you can participate it after each win. You can gamble half or all your winnings at once, and you do so by guessing if the coin will flip heads or tails. While we aren’t particularly fond of the theme, it can’t be denied that it looks good. All the models are well done, the reels are bathed in a gorgeous red colour and animations are superb. An odd design choice is that the twins themselves are entirely static during most of the game, but only start jumping around when you win, before going static entirely again. A little bit of animation work would have gone a long way to make them less robotic.
The betting range has a nice, wide spread, which should appeal to both low rollers and serious gamblers looking to win some serious cash. You can bet $0.50 up to $125 by changing your coin value and bet level, as paylines are fixed and unchangeable.

Fa Fa Twins isn’t a progressive slot, and the lucrative jackpots hiding beneath aren’t much found in the actual game. Indeed, just a quick glance along how much each of them pay makes it clear that all the big wins will come from the special features that await in the title.
