Bubble, bubble, in the cauldron, who’s the greatest one among them? We don’t honestly know the answer, but we do know that RTG’s Halloween release Bubble Bubble 2 caught our attention when it was first announced. The two witches that are the cornerstone of the slot are both Wilds that bring a 3x multiplier with them and can team up to do a 9x multiplier to a five of a kind win with the right kind of luck. You can imagine what sort of awesome wins that can bring in.
This 5-reel, 50-payline slot also has several special features, all of which are randomly selected when you pick three or more Scatter wands, which give a small cash prize as well. You can get Greater Ghosts, that gives players 20 free spins, and on each win, additional Ghost Wilds can appear across the reels, in something that’s either going to end really quickly, or going to end very profitable for the lucky gambler. Then there’s the Wilder Witches bonus that rewards 9 extra games and all appearing witches can cast spells to expand themselves in one reel in addition to their own. But if both witches appear in any of these 9 free spins, then they can turn the middle reel Wild, add 33 more extra games, or just do both. The third and final is called Ultra Bewitched and rewards 7 free spins, which guarantees at least one witch will appear on her respective reel. This is also the only one of the three that can be retriggered.
How to Play Bubble Bubble 2
While it’s supposed to be a Halloween slot, it is clear enough the art style is about as far detached from the word spooky as possible. It pays homage with an abandoned shack, crows sitting in the darkness, and various scary symbols on the reels, but the cutesy artstyle just throws away any sensation of fright or fear from the equation. In addition, a small pet peeve we had is that you are forced to wait for Wilds to expand each time, even when it doesn’t result in a win.
As for gameplay, it feels like a high volatility release from RTG this time around. Rather than centre things around a pair of progressive jackpots, this time around, it’s all about the special features and the witches themselves, and you can chain those together in a rather amazing set of combinations for massive wins. You may not end up lucky, but we’ve seen some people hit as hit as 500x their stake and more, though admittedly these are the big winners of games, so don’t be disappointed if you walk off with far less!
Jackpots & Progressives
As there are no progressive jackpots, the reliance on bonuses is that much higher. Admittedly, you don’t particularly have to, as we’ve seen some great wins come out during normal gameplay too, where the pair of witches completed a strong five of a kind score and netted a juicy win or two. But special features, in our view, are far more consistent in delivering just that sort of win and prospecting gamblers should try and chase them, if possible.
As for which one works out best, it’s difficult to say. All of them have a really good setup on which they can rain down a win from, but you need luck for all of them to really get lined up properly. So if you’re hoping for one of those bigger wins, you better put on all your lucky charms, and pray that today’s your lucky day.
